"We’re not on Kovomaka anymore, are we? I remember zooming through the blackness for a while, and…I remember Kovomaka getting smaller and smaller. And I remember these other stars and all getting bigger and bigger! But…that’s all I remember."
Aside from being a bit mischievous and scatterbrained, Lassi cares deeply about her friends. She is described as an odd and quirky girl who is insatiably curious, often wandering head-first into danger. In Japanese, she uses irregular grammar and speaks in a silly informal dialect.
Lassi is a short golden-yellow rabbit with forward-flopping ears and tied back hair. She has red eyes and accents along her ears. Below her bandana, she wears a pair of stitched, long pants over a purple undergarment. She also wears a pair of long sandals strapped over her feet.
Gameplay
Lassi joins the protagonist's party at Quiet Plateau on Erd after being revived with kovo water, starting at level 1. She uses the wind starsign, which is strong against earth, but weak to wood, and she gains her aura when Puffoon is in phase. When cast from the back row, her magic deals more damage to enemies standing in the front row, and can inflict the dizzy status to reduce enemies' stats. Lassi's main utility is healing, able to restore allies' HP with healing wing, or apply the heal status to incrementally restore HP via mother's nest. Her high MP, MP%, and agility make her a reliable supporter, but she lacks in power and defense.
Lassi is a bunny girl who was born in an immigrant community outside of the downtown area. Her ears are long and floppy, but that doesn't mean she's a very good listener. She's somewhat scatterbrained and takes things at her own pace.
Translation:She loves to chat, and she goes at her own pace! An energetic mood-maker The first to become companions with the protagonist, she's a girl of the rabbit tribe. She seems to have difficulty staying quiet when listening to people, and she tends to act at her own pace, but she's a lively mood-maker who always brightens up the place. By the way, her least favorite food is carrots.
One day at Will-o'-Wisp, Lassi and her friends overheard their teacher Miss Madeleine talking with Principal Biscotti talking about Kale, a former student reported to be leading a gang of astro pirates. Biscotti ordered Madeleine to put a stop to Kale's antics on Puffoon, which she accepted despite her students' worries. She summoned them all to the academy's meditation room afterwards, wherein she gave them a crash course on magical combat.
Three months later, after Madeleine had made no contact with Kovomaka, Lassi snuck into a storage room in the academy's clocktower where six rockets were stored. The other students eventually tracked Lassi down, but by the time they reached the rocket hangar, Lassi was launched into space. The protagonist quickly followed, as did Mokka, Chai, Pico, and Sorbet. While Lassi's rocket was being chased by the protagonist's, she collided with an asteroid and plummeted onto Erd, the earthplanet. Awaking in a raging sandstorm, the protagonist retrieved a bottle of kovo water from Lassi's rocket and used it to heal her. Lassi then cleared the sandstorm with her wild magic, accidentally disrupting the ant lion's slumber. Once the duo managed to defeat the ant lion, they entered the Kahve Ruins on the planet's edge and were suddenly chased by several robots. They found a rocket nestled at the top floor, but Robot D12S rushed in and detained them before they could board it.
Finding themselves at Gumbo Gaol, the protagonist and Lassi used their combined abilities to destroy the patrolling securitron and escape to the Forgotten Land. They leapt into a hole leading to Peatmoss, the colony of spiny moles, where King Gorgonzola proclaimed their arrival was foretold in an ancient tome. He then asked that they vanquish the wicked ant queen, which they eventually accomplished, and allowed them to claim the rocket from Kahve Ruins. After Lassi charged the ruins' generator at the Land Where the Stars Sleep with her magic, she and the protagonist infiltrated Kahve once more, evading Robot D12S and leaving Erd aboard Neumann the Magical Rocket.
After Magical Starsign
Resuming her studies at Will-o'-Wisp, Lassi taught herself the mechanics of rockets and published several articles on the subject. However, her articles were filled with errors and ridiculed by the public. After ten years of failed attempts, Mokka, who devoted himself to helping Lassi, allowed her to rebuild his body into a rocket. Lassi was reluctant at first, but Mokka's strong will encouraged her to accept his sacrifice. When the dwarves detected a faint signal in outer space, using a gigantic radio telescope they built out of the Kahve Ruins, the protagonist boarded the incomplete Rocket Mokka and prepared to blast off. Chai snuck into a space between the rocket's main engine and fuel tank, departing for the outer reaches of Baklava with the protagonist and Mokka.[5][a]
Lassi and gummy girl share a voice actress, who goes by the pseudonym Tanepirica.[3]
Lassi bears a few similarities to Sesame Ashpot from Magical Vacation. They have blonde hair that partially covers their eyes, they become technicians who retool Café au Lait/Mokka into a rocket, and in Japanese, they use similar informal vocabulary and slang.
In the script of Magical Vacation, there is data for an unused event titled "Lassi Introduction" (ラッシー登場,Rasshī Tōjō). However, because Lassi's original Japanese name is Jasmine, this is purely coincidental.
Nomenclature
Her name comes from लस्सी lassee (lassi), a popular spiced yogurt-based drink from India.
↑In the English localization, this scene is changed to Lassi "[leaving] Baklava forever" aboard Rocket Mokka "in search of new worlds," when no such details exist in the original Japanese version. This change also contradicts the protagonist's epilogue segment, in which they can be seen flying the Rocket Mokka.
