Magical Vacation: Kovopedia Fan Translation
Magical Vacation: Kovopedia Fan Translation is an upcoming unofficial English-language localization for Magical Vacation, developed by Kovopedia-users Karik, who managed ROM hacking, and magic_windsock, the project's lead translator. This patch was made to improve upon the existing fan translation published by magicalpatcher, due to it having notable technical errors, translation discrepancies, and no major updates since September 2019.
History
Karik and Windsock began developing the improved translation patch on December 14, 2022, after Karik presented screenshots of them examining the script and data of Magical Vacation. With the encouragement of Kovopedia's founder Rman41,[1] Windsock continued to help Karik as they gathered the game's data into a series of documents, which were shared to the Magical Vacation / Starsign Discord server through December and early 2023.[2]
Windsock worked on translating the script throughout the year, occasionally updating the Discord server and Kovopedia's Tumblr blog with his progress. His aim was to make the names of characters, locations, and spells completely consistent with the English localization of Magical Starsign (i.e., Kido Monga to Condimen Tower), while also fixing the graphical errors and the "superfluous" name changes in magicalpatcher's translation. By February 2024, Windsock had covered approximately half of the script, but chose to put the project on hiatus in July. He resumed in August, announcing on Tumblr an estimated completion date of Summer 2025.[3] To reach a wider audience, he provided another update on January 18, 2025, this time on YouTube. This update video covered the project's history, what parts have been completed, and his plans with the project going forward.[4]
On May 7, Windsock posted on Tumblr that there were around forty pages of dialogue remaining. He hoped to complete the script before the end of the month, announcing he would be away on a study tour in Japan from late May to the middle of June. In his absence, he invited community members to review the script and point out anything that needed correction.[5] The first draft of the script was completed and publicly announced on August 4, 2025.

Good news is, there are around 40 pages left in this script, which I aim to finish by the end of May, if not a little sooner. I want to finish this last chunk of dialogue as soon as possible because, oh boy, I'll be in Japan from late May to mid June for an academic study tour! So while I'm overseas, I'll let volunteers review the TL script and mark down stuff like typos and offer translation advice.
