Tomten are a species in the EGGLIA series.

Profile

Tomten are little bipedal creatures with brown figures, orange noses, and pigtails. They wear tall pointed hats decorated with a band and flower, as well as mantles with large bows and curl-toed shoes. Each tomte has a name and style that represents one of the nine furniture item colors.

Origin

In Scandinavian folklore, tomten (also known as nisse, tomtenisse, or tonttu) are tiny gnome-like spirits who wear red hats and gray tunics, and live in households or farms. They are said to guard homes, doing house and stable jobs until yuletide season, in which they expect to be paid in porridge for their duties.

Nomenclature

Their name comes from tomte, the Swedish spelling of the creature.
