Legend of the Redcap
Raining Redcaps
In a starry blue space, a young redcap named Chabo floats towards a light, wondering whether or not he is dead. He only remembers the loss of his horns, reduced to mere stumps on his forehead. As Chabo ascends to the light, he suddenly awakens and falls from the sky, landing on a forested island surrounded by an ocean of darkness. His arrival alerts Robin the elf and Marigold the faerie, who identify him as a goblin of the redcaps, a tribe known for their bloodthirsty nature. Chabo, however, appears to be passive, presumably because of his broken horns. After a round of introductions, Robin gives Chabo a niebel egg, a magical artifact containing a piece of the former land of Egglia. With his goblin powers, Chabo is able to crack open this niebel egg, specifically the Slumbering Egg, and release The Willowwacks.
Exploring The Willowwacks, Robin explains how Egglia was torn apart in a war long ago, and each land was sealed away inside a niebel egg. While gathering lumber, Chabo finds an aloe plant in the ground and attempts to take it. To the group's shock, the aloe thanks Chabo for freeing her, introducing herself as Alovara. Robin invites her to live in their soon-to-be town, but is interrupted when a hungry dwarf named Dunkel abducts Alovara. A chase ensues, disturbing the sleep of Brown the brownie. Dunkel continues to run with Alovara, afraid that Brown will eat him. Captivated by Robin's beauty, Brown agrees to guide the group through The Willowwacks, but is skeptical of Chabo. To his relief, Marigold and Robin tell Brown that Chabo is peaceful without his horns, so he happily recruits the redcap as his squire.
Deep in the woods, the group finds Dunkel munching on Alovara's leaves. Brown steps in, asking if Dunkel knows where his sister Sepia has gone, but the dwarf does not remember seeing her. Robin promises to give Dunkel a big meal in the Town if he spares Alovara, to which he accepts and promises to help them with his carpentry skills. Back on the island, he builds a straw-roofed cottage for Chabo, and the redcap suggests the perfect name for their humble Town. Still worried about his sister, Brown reveals a niebel egg in his possession and gives it to Robin. In the meantime, Marigold shows Chabo around the Town, introducing him to Tao Xin and Tekko.
Ruckus at the Riverbank
Outside Chabo's house, Robin attempts to give Chabo the Cerulean Egg she received from Brown. However, Brown himself arrives and attempts to open the egg, only for it to ricochet straight into his face. This proves that only Chabo can open niebel eggs, so he cracks the Cerulean Egg to release Sela Swamp. Alovara joins Chabo and Brown as they explore the new land, running into Craggie the sahuagin along the way. Craggie is denied Alovara's leaves, but he promises to hunt fish for the group. He accidentally collides with Iagan the gnome, who learns from Brown that the war against the ogres has subsided. As a gnome, Iagan exclaims he is good at crafting items and offers to move to the Town.
Catching up to a runaway Craggie, the sahuagin bickers with Iagan and another chase ensues. This time, he crashes into Iagan's brother Yergan, who joins the team and runs after Craggie. The gnome brothers back him into a corner, but before they can attack him, Brown gives them one of Alovara's leaves as a peace offering. They burst with energy upon eating the leaf and spare Craggie, who promises to provide fish for the Town. When the group returns, Iagan and Yergan construct a Workshop for building furniture out of materials.

The Ogres
As Harushio paces in front of Chabo's house, the others report that Jezel is missing. Brown reminds everyone how the niebel sent ogres to destroy the world, just like in the previous war, since they deemed the people of Egglia defective. As Sepia tries to convince herself Jezel is not evil, despite owning a niebel egg filled with ogres, Dansa arrives and states that Kotomio and Robin chased Jezel to The Floating Gardens.
When Chabo meets Robin at The Floating Gardens, where the sky is tinted dark red, she presumes Jezel is planning to escape before the ogres can dominate Egglia to commence the niebel peoples' migration. Elsewhere, Jezel insists that Kotomio, scared for her friend, return to the Town. Kotomio continues to stick with Jezel, who is determined to fulfill his mission despite the delays. Robin admits to Chabo that she felt a change in Jezel's heart, believing he now wants to protect the Town instead of facilitating the niebel's reclamation of Egglia.
Jezel looks to a horizon swarming with ogres, assuring Kotomio the niebel will take back Egglia and all life will be erased. He admits his sin to Kotomio, revealing himself to have been a god who deceived lower beings, and that his actions against Egglia are irreversible. As for Robin, she sees the ogres approach the Town, and Chabo confesses he learned about the ogres' origins from Jezel―that they are redcaps who lost their hearts. Robin realizes that Chabo cut off his own horns to avoid such a fate, and since the niebel found a way to fight ogres by becoming ogres themselves, the ones invading Egglia may actually be niebel people.
At the end of the gardens, Jezel shows Kotomio the Corrupted Seed, a crystal compound created by the niebel that gives goblin horns to any race. Jezel reveals the ogres are in fact former niebel people, who consumed the crystal to become ogres and take back Egglia. Jezel, whose duty was to usher in the transformed niebel, is torn between his home world and the world that taught him emotions. He feels guilty about becoming attached to Kotomio and the Town, which delayed his mission, but thanks Harushiro for doing what he could not. Jezel then gives Kotomio his mother's pendant, prepared to separate from his family as he is protected by the pendant Kotomio gave him. He clutches the Corrupted Seed and prepares to eat it, confident that unlike redcaps, he will have more control over his consciousness as an ogre. Lastly, Jezel asks Kotomio to tell his estranged father Kuph that he respects him. He devours the crystal and transforms into an ogre, promising to defend Egglia from the niebel.
Dwindling Hope
Back in the Town, the group watches as Jezel fights the ogre swarm. A horrified Kotomio sees the ogres gain the upper hand, clawing at Jezel until he emits a silver light. In the white emptiness, Jezel appears before Kotomio in his original form and says good-bye to Kotomio. Overwhelmed with regret, Harushio promises to become an ogre and talk things out with the niebel. Concerned for his safety, Chabo, Brown, and Stix follow Harushiro to the ruins of Raofe Town.
