Spirit (Magical Vacation)
Spirits are a mechanic in Magical Vacation.
Gameplay
There are sixteen attributes of spirits, and for each attribute, there are seven individual spirits that the player can befriend. To befriend spirits, the player must find them around the world and meet their demands, which become more stringent as the game progresses. Some spirits have very specific recruitment conditions, so collecting all of them is not mandatory for a casual playthrough.
In battle, party members and enemies can cast "Call" (コール) and "Double" (ダブル) magic to summon spirits to the field; up to seven spirits can be present at once. If a combatant uses a magic spell or bomb item with the same attribute as spirits on the field, regardless of who summoned them, those spirits will multiply the offensive or regenerative power. This is called a Spirit Combo (精霊コンボ), which increases depending on how many spirits are used. Two spirits multiply the spell's power by 4, three multiply it by 8, and the maximum of seven multiply it by 128.
Conversely, characters can use "Clear" (クリア) magic to remove all spirits of the attribute they are strong against. If spirits with a disadvantageous attribute are summoned during a Combo with advantageous spirits, the Combo gets cancelled out. For example, if there are two wood spirits in a Combo with three beast spirits, two of the beast spirits will offset the Combo, leaving only one left.
When a Spirit Combo is complete, the spirits used will disappear and have to be summoned again. Also, party members can only summon the same number of spirits that the player has already befriended, otherwise the spell fails.
