Aplysias are a species in Magical Vacation. They inhabit Kumuyamuto Desert in the Dark Plane and can create rain showers when touched.
Profile
Aplysias are land-dwelling sea slugs with speckled purple skin and a pink-tinted foot, as well as small feelers around their mouths. Their eyes are held up by ocular tentacles, and two propodeal tentacles are located along their foot. The showers produced by aplysias are said to be greasy and easily crusts on skin in the sunlight, but the aplysias themselves supposedly taste delicious when salted.
History
Magical Vacation
During the party's journey in the Dark Plane, they had to search for Mace by trekking through Kumuyamuto Desert. The desert's heat caused Café au Lait to overheat, but by touching the aplysias, the party was able to keep Café au Lait cool until they reached Zundoko Pit. There, Mace gifted Café au Lait a water veil, which prevented him from overheating in Kumuyamuto Desert.
Trivia
- The species is based off the real life Aplysia, specifically those of the Anaspidea suborder. Their ability to call rain comes from the literal meaning of 雨降らし amefurashi, which is "rainfall."
- Aplysias are one of the only species in the series who have no spoken dialogue.
